Day 1 Departure to the Philippines
To the Philippines we fly with Qatar Airlines, from Helsinki to Doha 16.50 – 23.40 with a connecting flight to Clark at 01.55.
Day 2 Arrival in the Philippines
At 15.40 we are at the batch in Clark. We will be met by a driver who will take us to our hotel. We will have dinner at the hotel restaurant or at a restaurant near the hotel for an additional fee.
Day 3 Clark City Tour
After breakfast, meet your local guide in the lobby of your hotel. We will set off on a tour of the entertainment city for approximately 3.5 hours. With almost half a million inhabitants, its history dates back to 1796.
In the afternoon we return to the hotel. Dinner in the hotel restaurant. (A,L,I)
Day 4 Clark – peaceful and friendly Banaue / 390 km
After breakfast, we head to Banaue. The rice terraces of the small village of Banaue and its surrounding area are a memorable destination in the northern Philippines. Banaue, like other destinations in the north of the island, has retained its originality and distinctive features.On the way, we stop for lunch.
We arrive in Banaue in the late afternoon and check in at the Banaue Hotel. Dinner will be served on a self-catering basis. Overnight at the Banaue Hotel. (A,L,I)
Day 5 Banaue – Batadi and Cambulo village embankments
After breakfast, we meet our local guide in the lobby of our hotel. We will embark on a full day excursion to the traditional mountain villages of Ifugao province in a charming Filipino jeepney, reserved exclusively for our group. There is no road up to Cambulo, but part of the way we walk along a path to the rice terraces. We will learn about the life of rice farmers. In total, we will walk about 16 km during the day.
The embankments were built about two thousand years ago and are a testament to excellent earthworks. They are linked to a complex system of irrigation canals that channel rainwater from the top of the mountain to the rice fields, where the depth of the water is varied according to the stages of rice growth. Day 6 Banaue – Sagada’s hanging coffins – Banaue
We will have breakfast at the hotel and then continue our journey to the town of Sagada, located in the Mountain Province. Sagada is famous for its coffins hanging on the sides of the mountain. It is estimated that the hanging of coffins began in the 700-800s, but no one really knows why or how this peculiar tradition started. According to one tribesman, older tribesmen were afraid of being buried. They knew that the water would quickly soak into the soil and the body would rot quickly. They wanted a safe place for themselves where the body would be safe, said a modern-day tribal member.
Next, we stop at the Bontoc Museum to admire its diverse collection of tribal artefacts and photographs. In the evening we return to Banaue. Dinner at the hotel restaurant. (A,L,I)
Day 7 Banaue – Vigan / 421 km
Breakfast at the hotel and check-out, followed by a 7-hour drive to Vigan, the capital of Ilocos Sur province. The city is renowned for its historical heritage and is like a showcase for the rich colonial history of the country, especially during the Spanish era. On the way, we will stop for lunch. In the evening we arrive in Vigan. Dinner at a local restaurant. Hotel accommodation. (A,L,I)
Day 8 Vigan is the most beautiful city in the Philippines
Our day starts with breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing tour of Vigan. Into the secrets of history preserved by the ancestors, we are led along the Calle Crisologin, a cobbled street, and feel as if we are stepping back in time a couple of hundred years. The street is lined with 19th century Mexican-Hispanic-Chinese neighbourhoods. Whitewashed, two-storey houses are adorned with pretty shutters made of tiny beadwork.
We visit Pagburnayan, where one of the country’s national artists shows visitors how to make local tera cotta pottery. Before returning to the hotel, we visit a handicraft workshop.

Day 9 Seeing Sharmikas Vigan – Badoc – Badoc Island – Pagudpud 200 km
After an early wake up and check out, we continue towards Badoc, breakfast is served on the bus. After about four hours of driving, we arrive at Badoc port. After about 30 minutes by boat, we land on the uninhabited and paradise-like island of Badoc. After about two hours of relaxation, a boat ride to the port of Bodoc. After a late lunch, we drive to Pagudpud, about a 2-hour drive. In the evening we arrive in Pagudpud, hotel dinner. (A,L,I)
