Volgograd has always been a strategically important city for Russia.
The city is the gateway guarding the country’s natural riches and many important roads from the southernmost Caspian Sea countries pass through it. Volgograd is best known for being the site of one of humanity’s bloodiest battles during World War II, the Battle of Stalingrad.
The first thing we do is visit the huge monument to the city, the Motherland statue, which commemorates the devastating battle. We will also visit the canal lock built by Stalin to link the Volga and Don rivers.
