Day 1 Arrival in Volgograd – the legendary hero city
We meet at Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Flight from Helsinki via Moscow to Volgograd departs at 11.20. We arrive at 16.45. The group will be met by a driver and his bus. Accommodation for the next 3 nights at the Volgograd ***** hotel, located in the centre of Volgograd. Extra charge for a communal dinner.

Day 2 Volgograd Life and Sights – Mamayev Kurgan
After breakfast at the hotel, we set off on a three-hour guided tour in English, combining the history of the young city with the magnificent Volga River. The traces of the war are visible in the city centre, where there are no old houses or churches, but the whole centre has been rebuilt after the war. The architectural style is of course Stalinist – big and grand. We visit Mamayev Hill to see the touching war memorials.

Self-catering communal lunch. Free time after lunch. We recommend a warm visit to the Panorama Museum, which focuses on the Battle of Stalinigrad.

Day 3 First closure of the Volga-Don Canal
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a guided tour in English for about five hours, driving through the southern part of the city of Volgograd to the Volga-Don Canal. This 101 km long canal is packed with history.

After visiting the canal built by Stalin, we will visit the world’s largest statue of Lenin on the banks of the Volga. Before returning to Volgograd, we will visit the Sarepta museum complex.

For lunch we return to Volgograd. Self-catering lunch together. Free time.

Day 4 Towards home
Breakfast at the hotel. Until 11.00 am you have free time for shopping. At 11.00 am transfer to the airport for the flight between Volgograd-Moscow-Helsinki and the connecting flight to Helsinki for the flight home at 13.00 pm. We arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa airport at 20.05.
