Day 1 Helsinki – Beijing

Meeting the tour leader at Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Direct Finnair flight to Beijing at 18.05. Dinner and breakfast will be served during the flight.

Day 2 Beijing

Arrival in Beijing in the morning at 06.55. Connecting flight from Beijing to Pyongyang at 13.05 with Air Koryo. Arrival at Pyongyang airport at 15.35. A local guide will meet you.

On the way to the hotel we see the Arc de Triomphe, which is not as old as the one in Paris, but higher. We visit Kim Il-sung Square and walk to Pyongyang’s grand theatre. Transfer to the Yanggakdo Hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 3 Pyongyang – Kaesong

Explore Pyongyang, the city of monuments: the Mansudae Fountain Park and Mansudae Grand Monument, and the Juche Tower – a symbol of the official ideology of the state, over 170 metres high. After lunch, there is a transfer to Kaesong city. In Kaesong we will visit the Korea Museum. In the evening, we will enjoy a delicious dinner, before checking into the Folkcustom Hotel.

Day 4 Pyongyang

Visit to the border zone (DMZ). Visit to the tomb of King Kongmin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, return to Pyongyang, en route visit the Arc de Triomphe of Unification. The Arc de Triomphe was built in the hope that one day the Koreas could be one united nation.

Walk through Moran Hill Park where Pyongyang residents often enjoy picnics. We will explore the Pyongyang subway which is full of mosaics, murals, chandeliers and also get to travel with the locals. Dinner and a visit to a local brewery. Accommodation at the Yanggakdo Hotel.

Day 5 Pyongyang

Visit to the War Museum and Pyongyang Film Studio. After lunch, visit to Mansudae Art Studio and the Embroidery Workshop. After the stamp shop, walk and tour around the city centre. Before the farewell dinner, visit to the Schoolchildren’s Palace. Accommodation at the Yanggakdo Hotel.

Day 6 Pyongyang – Dandong

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Pyongyang Railway Station. At 10.40am train departs for Dandong, accommodation in a 4-person sleeper compartment. 16.30 Arrival in Dandong, transfer to Zhong Lian Hotel. Check-in at the hotel. Free time.

Day 7 Dandong – Incheon

Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to the Great Wall of China, 20 km north-east of Dandong. This wall, known as the Tiger Mountain Wall, was built during the Ming Dynasty. Lunch.

At around 13.30 there is a transfer to the ferry terminal. From Dandong the ferry departs at 16.00. We travel in 4-person cabins with private facilities.

Day 8 Incheon – Seoul

At 09.00 the ferry arrives in Incheon which is part of the Seoul Metropolitan Area. We depart immediately for a half-day guided city tour. We start with a visit to the imperial Gyeongbokgung Palace. We will also visit the Folklore Museum, which presents the country’s history from the imperial era to the last Japanese occupation. After lunch, transfer to the Best Western New Seoul hotel. Free time.

Day 9 Seoul – Demilitarized zone on no man’s land

After breakfast, we drive to the demilitarised zone. One of the most interesting and exciting moments of the day is a walk in tunnel number three. The tunnel is one of the four known tunnels between the Koreas that were intended to make a surprise attack on South Korea. On the way back to Seoul, we will stop at one of the most interesting sights, the Dorasan train station. At the train station there is a train waiting to depart when the moment of inter-Korean peace arrives. Lunch will be enjoyed near Imjingak Park. We stop at Namdaemun market and Itaewon street. Free time.

Day 10 Seoul

Breakfast at the hotel. Free time in Seoul.

Day 11 Seoul – Helsinki

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight home from 10.20 to 13.55.
