On the way to your hotel you can admire the Yarlung Tsangpo \/ Bhamaputra River (the longest and largest river in Tibet) and the Lhasa River. <\/p>\n<p>After arriving in Lhasa, you can rest and get used to the mountain air. If you want to go out, head to Potala Square. In the square you can admire the colour-changing fountain and the magnificent Potala and its surroundings.  <\/p>\n<p>Overnight in Lhasa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites &#8211; Potala Palace, Johkang Temple and Barkhor Street.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The day starts with a visit to the first UNESCO World Heritage Site of the trip, Potala Palace. The Potala was the main residence of the Dalai Lama until 1959. Tibet&#8217;s 33rd Palace. The palace was occupied by the king as early as the 600s. The palace&#8217;s most valuable collections are the gilded tombs of the former Dalai Lamas and the 33rd Tibetan King&#8217;s tombs. The Tibetan King&#8217;s Meditation Room.     <\/p>\n<p>After lunch, you will travel to Jokhang Temple, the 33rd Tibetan temple in Tibet. The temple was built in the 600&#8217;s by the King of Tibet. The temple was designed to spread knowledge about Buddhism and houses one of the most revered objects of Tibetan Buddhism, a statue of the 12-year-old Buddha Shakyamuni. Next to the temple is Barkhor Street, where you can &#8216;Korata&#8217; (religious walk around a building or mountain) with pilgrims as well as locals. On the same street you can also find souvenirs.    <\/p>\n<p>Overnight in Lhasa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 3 Drepunging and Sera Monasteries<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the morning we visit Drepung Monastery, one of the &#8216;mighty three&#8217; monasteries of Tibet&#8217;s Gelug. The site was founded by Jamyang Choge in 1416, one of Tsongkhapa&#8217;s chief disciples. <\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon we visit the monastery of Sera, which, like Drepung, is part of three magnificent monasteries and their region. Sera Monastery was founded by Jamyang Choge in 1419. On the way, the group will pass the Gampala Pass and tourists will catch a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso Lake. The lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and in the distance you can see the spectacular scenery of the sacred mountain of Nyenchen Khangsar. Nyenchen Khangsar is the highest mountain near Lhasa.   <\/p>\n<p>We continue driving west along the lakeshore, towards Gyantse. Gyantse was historically the third largest city in Tibet (after Lhasa and Shigatse). In Gyantse we visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and the Kumbum Chapel in Gyantse.<br \/>\nAfter an hour and a half drive we arrive in Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. In Shigatse we visit Tashilunpo Monastery, home to Tibet&#8217;s second largest incarnation of the Panchen Lama.   <\/p>\n<p>Overnight in Shigatse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 5 From Shigatse to the main Everest camp<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter obtaining our alien travel permits, we leave Shigatse and drive towards Lhatse. Lhatse is a small village where we will have lunch.<br \/>\nWe will then drive to Shegar. With clear weather we can already see Mount Everest in the distance.  <\/p>\n<p>After a 4-6 hour drive, we arrive at Rongbuk Monastery. On the way to the monastery, we pass one of the tallest solas in Tibet (Pang la sola 5 050 m). From the pass you can see all five highest points in the world.  <\/p>\n<p>Overnight in a tent or in the guesthouse of Rongbuk Monastery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 6 Everest main camp and return to Shigatse<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the morning the sun rises on Mount Everest and you see the spectacular snow-capped Mount Everest in front of you. Rongbuk serves as a lookout point for Mount Everest. Afterwards, you can hike or take a local bus to the main Everest camp (4 km per direction)<br \/>\nAfter visiting the main camp, you can tour the world&#8217;s highest monastic monastery, Ronphu (5,000 m).<br \/>\nIn the evening, drive back to Shigatse, where you will also spend the night.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 7 From Shigatse to Lhasa<\/strong><br \/>\nOn day seven, we drive along the main road from Shigatse to Lhasa. A relaxing hike around the lake and on Tashi Island is possible. At night, you can see a magnificent starry sky from the lakeside.  <\/p>\n<p>Overnight at the Namtson guesthouse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 5 From Namtso Lake via the hot springs of Yanpachen to Lhasa<\/strong><br \/>\nEnjoy a bright morning by the lake. In the morning, you can also take an excursion from the lake to Tashi Dori Island and explore the meditation caves. Drive to Dumxung for lunch.  <\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon you can enjoy the Yangpachen hot springs (optional) and swim in the outdoor and indoor pools filled with hot spring water.<\/p>\n<p>Departure back to Lhasa. Overnight in Lhasa. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 6 From Lhasa to Nyingchi, visit Mila Mountain Pass, Lake Basum<\/strong><br \/>\nToday we drive from Lhasa to the village of Bay (Nyingchi). On the way we will drive past Mila Pass and arrive at Gamda village. <\/p>\n<p>Then head to Lake Basom tso, 360 km east of Lhasa. Lake Basom Tso is 3 500 metres above sea level, starting at Nyching Tangha Mountain and is a dozen kilometres long. Snow-capped mountains, glacier and trees are reflected on the lake&#8217;s surface. There are small islands in the lake, where the Lamaist temple is built.   <\/p>\n<p>The journey continues by driving along the Nyiyan river road to Bayi village.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight in Nyingchi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 7 Cypress Reserve &#8211; Sekyim Lan pass and Namjia Bawa mountain viewing<\/strong><br \/>\nToday&#8217;s first visit is to the spectacular Cypress Nature Reserve, 15 km from the village of Bay. The Royal Cypress is about 50 metres tall and 2,500 years old. <\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, drive to Sekyim lan Pass and enjoy Namjia Bawa Mountain, visible in the distance. Then continue driving into the lush Luang forest with large trees growing up to 3 700 m above sea level. Distant clouds, snow-capped mountains, endless pine trees and a quiet rustic landscape.<br \/>\nDrive back to Nyingchi. The lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and in the distance is the imposing Mount Khangsar (7 191 m), the highest mountain in the vicinity of Lhasa.  <\/p>\n<p>We head west along the lake and drive towards Gyantse. Gyantse was historically the third largest city in Tibet (after Lhasa and Shigatse). The journey is approximately 280 km and takes 6 hours along the shores of Yarlung Tsangpo\/Bhamoutra Lake. On the way we pass the Gampala Pass and catch a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso Lake. The lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and in the distance you can see the mighty Holy Nyecnhe Khangsar Mountain. Nyenchen Khangsar is the highest mountain (7,191m) in the Lhasa region.   <\/p>\n<p>We continue driving west along the lakeshore, towards Gyantse. Gyantse was historically the third largest city in Tibet, after Lhasa and Shigatse. In Gyantse we visit the famous Pelkor Monastery (Gyantse Kumbum). The Kumbum has nine floors, each with a unique chapel. Kumbum is considered the largest stupa in Tibet.    <\/p>\n<p>Overnight in Shigatse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 5 From Shigatse via Tingri to Everest<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter obtaining our alien travel permits, we set off towards Lhatse. Lhatse is a small village where we can have lunch.<br \/>\nAfter lunch we will drive 4-6 hours until we arrive at Rongbuk Monastery. During the drive we will see one of the highest hills in Tibet; Pang La Pass. From the pass you can see the five highest mountain peaks in the world.   <\/p>\n<p>Overnight in a tent or in the guesthouse of Rongbuk Monastery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 6 From Old Tingri to Kathmandu<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the morning you can see how the sun rises over Mount Everest. From Rongbuk you have a great view of Everest. After admiring the mountain, you can hike or take a bus to Everest Base Camp (4 km\/way).<br \/>\nAfter the base camp excursion, a visit to Rongphu, the highest monastery in the world.
