Departure for the Yerevan tour at noon. The statue of Mother Armenia<br \/>\noffers a view over Yerevan towards Mount Ararat. The 2805 year old Armenian<br \/>\ncapital is a charming mix of cozy parks, history and modern<br \/>\ncity of millions. The Armenian Genocide (1915-1923) is still an open wound,<br \/>\naffecting every Armenian. We will visit the Genocide Memorial and<br \/>\nMuseum. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.        <strong>(A,P)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 3 Excursion to Khor Virap (Deep Gap) Monastery<\/strong><br \/>\nAbout an hour&#8217;s drive away on the dramatic Turkish border lies Khor Virap (Deep Gap) Monastery &#8211;<br \/>\n. Located at the foot of Mount Ararat, the monastery is the birthplace of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The village of Aren<br \/>\nis home to the oldest shoe and wine factory in the world. We will visit archaeological excavations.<br \/>\nDinner and overnight in the spa town of Yermuk. <strong>(A,P)<\/strong>   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 4 from Yerevan to Gori<\/strong><br \/>\nAn hour and a half drive to Syunik province. Prehistoric observatory Karahundz and<br \/>\nstunning views of Tatev, the &#8220;king of monasteries&#8221;, where we travel on the world&#8217;s longest<br \/>\ncable car. Lunch in Halidzor. Overnight in Goris, the city of roses.     <strong>(A,L)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 5 <\/strong><br \/>\nBack in the 19th century, Khdzoresk was the largest village in eastern Armenia. We spend the day climbing<br \/>\nin the amazing cave village landscape. Vorotnavank Monastery from the 1000s. Dinner and<br \/>\novernight in Sissian. <strong>(A,P)<\/strong>   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 6 Shaki waterfall, return to Yerevan<\/strong><br \/>\nNear Sissian we visit the Shaki waterfall. A couple of hours drive<br \/>\nto the red mountain pass along the ancient Silk Road leads to the extraordinary Noravank Monastery (1200 l.).<br \/>\nLunch at Noravank. Visit to the Aren winery. Return (approx. 2 hours) to Yerevan. Overnight stay<br \/>\nin Yerevan.     (A,L)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 7 UNESCO-listed Geghard Monastery<\/strong><br \/>\nThe unique Geghard Monastery is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We will also visit<br \/>\nGarn, the only temple in Armenia dating back to pagan times.<br \/>\nWe will learn about the traditional making of lavash bread and enjoy lunch in the village of Garn. Overnight<br \/>\nin Yerevan. <strong>(A,L)<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 8 Free time in Yerevan<\/strong><br \/>\nBreakfast at hotel, free time and shopping day in Yerevan.
